How to store and clean your jewelry

A beautiful piece of jewelry is more than an accessory.
It's often a memory or that one item that makes you feel completely yourself.
The right care and storage ensure you'll enjoy it for years to come.

Here are our top tips.

Clean your jewelry regularly

Perfume, skincare, sweat, and dust accumulate on your jewelry daily, causing it to lose its shine. A quick clean can make a big difference:

  1. Make a solution of lukewarm water and a drop of mild soap.
  2. Gently clean with a soft cloth or toothbrush.
  3. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Please note per material: you can clean gold and stainless steel this way, polish silver with a silver cloth, only wipe pearls slightly damp, and sensitive gemstones like emerald or opal are best professionally cleaned.

Store your jewelry smartly

  • Store separately: place each piece of jewelry in its own transparent grip seal bag.
This prevents scratches and gives you an immediate overview.

  • Dry and dark: store jewelry away from moisture and direct light.
    That causes colors to fade.

  • Silver, resin, and steel: are extra sensitive to light and air.
Store them in a grip seal bag or cling film.

  • Last on, first off: only put on jewelry after you have applied perfume and skincare products.

  • Necklaces: close the chain first and store it in a grip seal bag with the extender outside. This keeps them tangle-free.

  • Check regularly: check clasps and settings.
Have any doubtful cases checked by Babazou.
